Field to Future is a structured, national process that links grassroots experience to strategic action.
Through local and regional value chain meetings, we gather practical insights from every corner of the red meat sector – and take them through a clear process that leads to real R&D investment.
How it works
On-the-ground conversations
We meet with producers and value chain role players through facilitated sessions across South Africa to identify key issues, gaps, or ideas.
Feedback & prioritisation
Insights are gathered, grouped, and prioritised based on what’s most urgent, doable, and impactful for the sector.
Technical review & feasibility
Our RMIS team and industry experts assess the practicality and potential of each idea, checking for existing research or strategic alignment.
Board-level consideration
Final proposals are presented to the RMIS Board - who oversee the allocation of all project funding.
Implementation & reporting
Once approved, projects are launched - and we keep contributors informed through updates, results sharing, and practical rollouts.
